In times of trouble

I don't want to talk about what's troubling me.

Talking about it doesn't make it go away, it makes you think about it all the more.

I'm sure many psychotherapists would refute that statement but from my own experience it is certainly true.  And to broadcast negativity on the internet isn't going to inspire anyone.

And after all, that is why I'm writing this blog.  To inspire people.

Anyway, I am inspired to write this!

That in times of trouble I still know that I am loved by the one who will never leave me nor forsake me.

That by relying on Christ to strengthen me instead of relying on my own strength or lack of, all things are possible, I can overcome anything through Him who loves us.

And I thank the Lord, with all my heart that despite not always allowing myself to acknowledge this fact, not always allowing myself to cry out in Jesus' Name, my awesome God has placed so many people along my path who will not allow me to fall, not allow me to slip backwards into the mud and the mire.

For I know that God has placed my feet upon the rock and that I make the choice to stand firm.

Just as Philip Jinadu said at Detling we are "free to choose".

"It is for freedom that Christ has set us free".  Galatians 5:1

And it goes on to say "Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery".

I love the use of the word "again", Christ has already set us free, surely we will not; we cannot; forget this after what He has done for us; His perfect sacrifice on the cross.

I love that verse, it's so awesome.

Surely everyone wants to be free.  Men and women the world over have continued to fight for freedom in the name of equality, gender, age, religion and a whole heap of other things that really have no meaning once you are free in Christ.

Coming to Detling has really given me a wonderful understanding of the meaning of freedom.

Father God,

I just thank and praise you for sending me to the Detling Summer Celebration.  For bringing so many wonderful people into my life, as if I don't already have an abundance of wonderful Christians in my new amazing life in Christ.

I thank you for the wisdom and guidance over the past few days of these people who I have known for such a short time.  I thank you and ask you to pour out your blessing on those in the prayer and healing ministry here who have prayed with me countless times and in particular for Mary Jane Donaldson and Eric Delve, trustees of Detling who have given of their time generously in prayer and fellowship.

I pray Lord that the final day of this extraordinary week will be the most amazing day yet and that each and every one of us will be filled with your Holy Spirit, your power of healing and that we will leave here feeling "Free and Fearless", as is the message of the entire celebration.

In Jesus' Name,

Amen.
